The Knox County Public Library - Cedar Bluff Branch
The Cedar Bluff Branch of the Knox County Public Library System, satisfies two goals. Externally, the building design appears as a reflection of the surrounding neighborhood context. Internally, the building functions as an integral part of a broader community, connecting its users to the network of a comprehensive library system. The brick exterior and sloping roofs provide an inviting residential appearance that recently won recognition from the East Tennessee Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The open interior offers adult and children's areas discretely segregated through the use of glazed partitions, furniture arrangement, and ceiling treatment. Additionally, a large multi-purpose room allows for the scheduling of community gatherings, both during and after hours. The building provides an enjoyable and educational experience for all its patrons.
