The planning of a 72,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art facility in a quiet, rural setting in West Knox County has met the demand for a new nursing home for East Tennessee Veterans. The carefully integrated site and building design provides 140 beds in an accessible and peaceful environment for its residents. All required services are located on site, enabling the staff to meet the patients' needs in an appropriate and timely manner. The building has been designed as a one-story structure with several courtyards flanked by residence wings and public spaces. Every design element, including landscaping and interior design, has been carefully selected to build a home-like environment, rather than a clinical one, for the residents. The concept for the new facility was developed through a joint venture with Johnson + Bailey Architects, PC of Murfreesboro, TN and The Lewis Group Architects of Knoxville, TN.
