After serving as an interior design consultant to architecture and design firms in the southeast for many years, Melanie Doss joined Lewis Group Architects as Director of Interiors in December 2013. She is an accomplished and dedicated interior design professional with 25+ years of experience in programming, space planning, specification writing, FF&E selection, and project management. She brings to the firm an extensive portfolio of projects in education, corporate, government, financial, and healthcare facilities. Some of these notable projects include Joint Institute of Computational Sciences (JICS) and Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORCAS), Thornton Athletics Student Life Center, Alcoa Utility Service Center, Truett-McConnell College, Tennessee Air National Guard, United Community Bank Madisonville, Village Veterinary Clinic, and Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority Airport Rescue and Firefighters Facility.
Melanie has received numerous awards for distinctive design quality of interior environments and has been recognized by her peers as ASID Interior Designer of the Year. She has served as ASID Tennessee State Chapter President, Board Member of the Knoxville Area Chamber of Commerce, and currently sits on the interior design technology advisory board at Pellissippi State Community College representing both academic and professional interests. In addition to her professional practice, Melanie has been an adjunct faculty for The University of Tennessee, East Tennessee State University, and Assistant Professor at Pellissippi State Community College. In recognition of commitment to higher education, she is currently pursuing a doctorate in Consumer Science and Marketing from UT with aspirations of completion projected for December 2014.
